It's important to remember that most people are good, and collective joy can be nurtured even in the presence of broken hearts.

Last week I pre-drafted this email to you and I left a placeholder here to make mention of how amazing the crowd and energy was at Taylor Swift's Vienna Eras show. This was the only place we could get tickets for in the world. We had waited a year, but the evening before our flight out from London all three Vienna shows were cancelled. Just like that. What's being described as a terrorist plot was thankfully, stopped.

All ticket holders are grateful for our lives and safety (of course), but we were equally sorely disappointed.

Like many others, we went ahead with our trip to Vienna. While the city's beauty is undeniable – earning its reputation as one of the world's most liveable places – what truly struck us was the remarkable sense of openness and camaraderie among the fans who gathered.

Thousands, joyfully singing together in the streets. Strangers greeting each other in different languages then hugging as if they'd been lifelong friends. We were all identifiable by friendship bracelets and costumes bearing lyrics or the names of our favourite songs and albums. It was pure community, kindness and generosity of spirit – for days after the cancellation notice. Take a look at #ViennaTSTheErasTour on any social media and you'll have the chance to glimpse a little of what we experienced first-hand. People from all corners of the world, varying ages and different accents all continued to spread the love, despite our broken hearts. It was a tonic in a world that can often seem to only be filled with intolerance and hate.

A reminder that even in trying times, we can take the lead on being kind and open-hearted, creating lasting moments of inspiration for others.
